The 17th Mallet-Milne Lecture

Performance-Based Earthquake Engineering: from the Cradle to Adulthood and Beyond

We are pleased to announce that Prof. Andrew S. Whittaker (University at Buffalo) has agreed to deliver the 17th Mallet-Milne Lecture, which is scheduled to take place on 29th May 2019 in London. Prof. Whittaker has conducted extensive research on the seismic resilience of nuclear power plants and is considered a leading expert on the structural design of next-generation nuclear reactors. This symposium is held in memory of the late Nicholas Neocles Ambraseys (1929 – 2012). Ambraseys was a Greek engineering seismologist. He was Emeritus Professor of Engineering Seismology and Senior Research Fellow at Imperial College London. For many years Ambraseys was considered one of the leading academics in the fields of earthquake engineering and seismology in Europe.
