The Young Members Sub-Committee (YMSC)

Young Members are represented within the SECED by the Young Members’ Sub-Committee (YMSC). Formed in July 2017, the YMSC aims to provide a platform to showcase the talent of young members to the wider community, promote collaboration among students and young professionals, enhance knowledge in the fields of earthquake engineering and civil engineering dynamics, and share ideas and concerns with the Society. The YMSC is intended as a diverse group that brings together talented individuals from both academia and industry. The remit of YMSC encompasses activities such as organising career development/networking events; co-ordinating outreach/educational programmes; arranging periodic meetings, conferences, paper/poster competitions and special presentations; collaborating with other professional societies; interacting with the main SECED Committee to enhance the overall presence and standing of the Society; and organising other activities in pursuance of the objectives of the Society.

The Annual Meeting of the YMSC is held in October. Committee members are elected for a two year term.
